University of Huddersfield

The University of Huddersfield is an exciting, stimulating place to learn. As a growing centre of research and academic excellence, which can trace its roots back over 180 years, the University is always pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Choosing Huddersfield makes sense for international students as it is an ideal place for international education. Every year we welcome students from over 120 countries worldwide. They come because of our academic reputation, the range of courses on offer, and the track records of our successful students, of whom we are so proud72.

We are a friendly and student-centred university with a strong vocational orientation and a focus on graduate employability – we’re among the UK’s top ten providers of ‘sandwich courses’ where our students undertake a paid work placement in industry or commerce. Our impressive record for graduate employment is a direct result of our strong links with commerce and industry, and our practical and vocational approach, combining real work experience with high academic standards. Most of our courses offer the opportunity to get involved with industry, from sponsored projects and guest lectures, to internships and work placements. Many of our full-time degree courses include the option of a sandwich year (internship) where you will spend a year on a paid work placement.

The combination of a vocationally orientated courses and opportunities for work experience places you in a good position in the jobs market. The University has placed students with many organisations and international companies around the world, including Microsoft, Panasonic, Ferrari, BMW, Bosch, Intel, Motorola and many more. We are also proud of the way that our courses promote entrepreneurship and positively encourage our graduates to form their own companies and exploit innovative ideas.

A continuing programme of campus development (we’ve spent over £100 million over the last ten years) ensures that you have access to some of the best facilities and equipment in the country. We listen to what our students say and pride ourselves on the range of opportunities you can enjoy here. In addition to developing your academic abilities, Huddersfield has a dynamic, creative and cultural mix with a strong reputation for student safety and is a great place for study, so you will have access to one of the friendliest, diverse and vibrant student scenes in the UK.

Our September and January Welcome Programmes will give you a practical introduction to British life and culture and help you feel more at home and ready to start your studies. Our Campus Events team and the Students’ Union organise cultural activities, sporting events and food festivals throughout the academic year. We have over 45 (and growing) international student societies where you can meet up with people from your own country.

The University of Huddersfield is a successful, innovative and modern university with excellent facilities and support for students, top-class teaching and many outstanding research teams. We are the first university in the UK to have 100% of our teaching staff as Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), thus ensuring the quality of the lessons you receive.

Our students consistently tell us that Huddersfield is a great place to live and learn and our graduates are bright, confident and successful people. Choose to study at the University of Huddersfield and you will also benefit from our commitment to develop the outstanding professionals of the future, who will have the graduate skills employers and industry are looking for.
